A night in with your partner and no plan usually ends with both of you on your phones. A game fixes that, and the good ones need nothing but the two of you.
The catch is that the fun ones tend to involve taking photos, and photos have a default destination you did not choose. This covers a few ideas, and the one practical thing worth setting up first.
Ideas that need nothing
- Scavenger hunt around the flat. Take turns naming something to photograph — "something that reminds you of our first trip", "the ugliest thing we own". It goes somewhere unexpected fast.
- Two truths and a lie, photographed. Each of you finds three objects; two mean something real, one is invented. The other guesses.
- Recreate an old photo. Find one from years ago and restage it badly. This is reliably the funniest thing on the list.
- Truth or dare, grown-up version. The classic works precisely because it is low effort.
- Cards. Any prompt deck, taking turns. The structure is the point; it stops the evening drifting.
What these have in common is that they produce something — a handful of photos you would actually like to keep, which is where the problem starts.
The camera roll problem
Every photo from a night like that lands in the same library you open in front of other people. Your camera roll is the most-shown app on your phone: you hand it over to show someone one picture, and it is one swipe from something else.
Deleting afterwards only half works. Recently Deleted keeps items for thirty days, and if backup was on, there is a copy in your cloud account regardless of what you did on the phone.
The reliable fix is not to be more careful afterwards. It is to have the photos land somewhere private in the first place.
A ten-minute setup
- Both install Our Eyes Only — free on the App Store and Google Play.
- Set a 4-digit access code each, different from your phone unlock code.
- Turn on Face ID or fingerprint unlock so it is quick to open.
- Exchange friend codes in person, and make one shared album.
- For anything you want kept further back, move that album into the hidden space and set its second code.
Step two matters more than it looks. If your vault code is the same as your phone code, anyone who has watched you unlock your phone now has both.
The built-in games

Every photo and video captured during a game stays in your vault, never touching your camera roll. There is nothing to remember to clean up, which means it actually stays private rather than depending on you being disciplined at midnight.
Sharing, only with each other
There is no feed and no followers. Your partner is added with a private code you choose to share, there are no searchable usernames, and albums are visible only to people you add.
If one of you wants to save a photo the other added, they have to ask, and the person who added it decides. You can also blur a photo so it appears covered, and leave private notes inside an album behind the same lock.
Worth agreeing up front
Decide together whether either of you keeps copies outside the app, whether screenshots are fine, and what happens to shared albums if the relationship changes. It is a two-minute conversation that avoids a bad one later.
The controls enforce what you agree. They do not replace agreeing, and you can withdraw access at any time.
